Might entails becoming so powerful that the party can turn the tide of a confrontation by themselves.

Diplomacy enlists the help of another powerful entity to bolster your forces enough to end the stalemate.

Subterfuge makes you turn the forces of the side you profess to be on against each other, enabling victory for the other side.
