The Cracked Hills are named for their jagged, broken appearance. It is said that they are an ancient dragon breeding ground, though there have been no dragons sighted there in living memory. At the geographic center of the hills, there is a large (~200ft diameter, ~40ft deep) crater that occasionally lets off plumes of smoke.

The majority of the hills are made of limestone, with geothermal venting activity from below.

The headwaters of the Parrgæn river are located in the Cracked Hills. They stem from a strikingly beautiful lake among the broken rock. This lake is half inside a large cave that is hung with calcite crystals like stalactites. Following the river out from this lake, it dives in and out of the soft limestone, creating a twisting complex of caves. Instead moving backwards, towards the back of the cave are an array of tunnels that trace smaller rills to places unknown.

Kobolds are common throughout the cracked hills, befitting the legends of dragons. Nearly every cave is trapped, though most often barely so.

An orc encampment has been erected recently. They came from the west, from some of the savage clans that control the southern part of the orcish dominions. The camp itself is walled with roughly cut and more roughly piled stone.
