In the far north, there is a massive sheer cliff ranging from 100 meters to over a kilometer high. It overlooks a featureless, frozen, rocky plain. This plain is often obscured by a shifting, low-hanging clouds, so if looks like you are hovering above a new world. For this reason, it’s called the Sky’s Rim.

Seers flock to it, claiming to view other worlds as the aurora is reflected off the everpresent clouds.

No mortal knows how it was created, as any direct evidence has long since decayed. The rock itself remains strong, as some power is imbued in it that preserves them perfectly.

Occasionally, the aurora will reach all the way down to the ground. This event is called the Finger of God, Dovvt Kuratseb in the dwarven tongue. There is a bright light, and a wind that clears the fog away from the Æther locus. This is considered to be a potent omen by those who live along the cliffs. They can never agree on whether it is a good or bad omen but it does actually introduce a surge of magic into the world. This can make natural magics much more potent, in extremely unpredictable ways. Few shapers can take advantage of these magic surges.
