		These eight True Mages were subjects of legend. They each crafted a ring that intensified their power. Each of the rings, when attuned, give you the wizard features up through 10th level in that path. They also allow you to cast a spell of that school that is 2nd level or less as a cantrip. Unless it is actually a cantrip, any damage does not scale.

		== Kavran Taladun ==

		Kavran was a master of evocation magic, specializing in pyromancy. He came from a small town in Sumarid. He was a passionate person in all his endeavors, from magic to romance.

		He grew up in a small town on the edges of the Great Desert. His society emphasized fire shaping, and over time the population of fire shapers in the town grew as everyone wanted to become or marry a fire shaper.

		He joined the rest of the Eight after he realized (in his early teens) that he was able to summon fire from nothing, unlike anyone else in his village. He was unable to find any answers to how this was possible from the village elders, so he left his home driven by curiosity. He ended up near the Cracked Hills, where the others had arrived shortly before to investigate a dragon living within the hills.

		A few years later, Kavran returned to his home village on a tip to find that it was ravaged by a blue dragon coming from the north. The only survivor was his younger sister Zæna, who Kavran had always looked down upon. She lived because the found that she was a natural lightning weaver and wove a ward around herself to survive unscathed. Returning to base (leaving his sister behind to fend for herself), he delved into research on dragons and also trying to make himself into a weaver. He failed completely, and became increasingly frustrated. Mograd noticed this, and tried to get through to him several times. He never accepted the help, and eventually exploded in anger and tried to kill her. Seeing what he had done, he fled, with Þór pursuing him. They met and clashed over Bazhda’s inland sea. They fought for hours, until finally Þór collapsed from exhaustion and went unconscious. When he awoke, Kavran had gone and there was no way to follow.

		Kavran’s ring is found within the dungeon in which he died, in the far north. It is clearly far older than the 740 years that Kavran has been in there.

		== Þór Ekkin ==

		Þór was born in Jörðin, and sailed across the seas to the mainland when he was in his late teens. He discovered his power when his ship was caught in a storm while sailing the Strait of Howls. The storm drove them close to shore, and a wave was about to dash them on a rock when he cast a spell to make the hull unbreakable. Everyone was astounded that the ship survived the impact, and they gained great respect for this seemingly weak boy. They survived the rest of the storm and made it safely to Myrrik.

		Þór’s fame outpaced him, and before long Zhakhad and Elavrani found him in Aventalka.

		Þór still wears his ring. He is in the south, and is worshipped as a god by the elves who live near his great temple.

		Investigating some of the ruins, you find that the former inhabitants worshipped one of those among them as a god. As you adventure further and come across a temple you may find that the this ‘god’ is in fact one of the Eight true mages from ancient myth. Discovering this from the carvings in the temple takes a DC 20 Religion or Arcana check. A DC 12 History check made first can give advantage on this check. (You notice that all depictions of the god figure pointedly have a ring.) Beneath the temple dwell Þór and his escort of undead servants. He bears the ring of abjuration still. He wished to make armor so strong it would stop death.

		His armor is made of Dzevv iron, with Dzevv platinum veining converging on a large garnet set over the heart. If you die while wearing the armor, you rise as a lich. The gem becomes your phylactery.

		Hers is with Madriin. She found the Children after the breakup and became a devoted follower until her death.

		His is kept within Morvanga’s fortress, maintaining the ward against undead.

		Hers is within the hidden fortress. She rarely left after the Kavran thing.

		Hers is also within the fortress, maintaining the illusions that keep it safe.
