Sjatlev

These trees have pale, smooth bark and long, narrow, slightly serrated leaves. In the autumn the leaves lose their chlorophyll and become bone white. In early spring, as the snow begins to melt, they produce a sweet sap like sugar maples. Indeed, they fill the same ecological niche.
